People like this who have the power to choose who runs my government make me angry.. and a little scared.
So I get on Facebook this afternoon when I am on my break, and I see this picture: 
And in an instant, I was so dumbfounded by this persons lack of any research or general knowledge about… you know the world I was basically stunned.
There is this small group of countries.. 12 to be exact (Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela) who started this group called Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries AKA: OPEC or as most of us know them, the small group of countries that has western civilization by the balls.
Why do they have us by the balls? Oh I’m so glad you asked!
See, together these 12 nations are responsible for 40 percent (almost half) of the world’s oil production and hold the majority of the world’s oil reserves, according to the Energy Information Administration [source: EIA]. When OPEC wants to raise the price of crude oil, they simply reduce production. This causes gasoline prices to jump because of the short supply, but also because of the possibility of future reductions. When oil production dips, gas companies get nervous. The mere threat of oil reductions can raise gas prices.
*gasp* what did I just read?! That OPEC does not only choose if and when they want to raise the price of oil but President Obama has nothing to do with it?!?!?!
